RAC Inspired: Boost

The RACTM Boost is a system of emergency electric vehicle charging stations located alongside a motorway or highway lay-by stopping point. The System in place would consist of one charging station per Lay-by every 2 miles along the road. It would give the driver an opportunity to receive an emergency boost of energy. To prevent time loss, no app or account is required to charge a vehicle, just a payment card.

The Boost System is an emergency charging station. It only allows a charging time of 10 minutes. A 10 minute boost would give the user approximately 30 miles worth of power to reach the nearest EV service station. The Boost System is aimed at removing range anxiety for long distance drivers. The Boost System would accommodate the four most common types of chargers: Type 1, Type 2, CHAdeMOTM and CCS Type 2.

The Boost System also includes an Emergency phone allowing the user to call for help and support. All these functions are controlled by a simple to understand User Interface designed to make the process as easy as possible when an emergency occurs.
